Lore The story goes that, according to Anglo-Saxon historian, Bede, the Germanic people of Britain and mainland Europe used to honour a solar goddess in the spring, named Eostre. This name was modernised to Ostara by Jacob Grimm (yes, that Jacob Grimm), and that is where we get the modern name of the holiday, as well
